If you know Westlawn Cemetery and Mausoleum and Westlawn Jewish Funerals, you already know the new Lakeshore. We’ve been serving Chicago’s Jewish families for over 3 generations–with caring, commitment and tireless attention to detail. Plus, we’re still affiliated with Westlawn Cemetery, to help serve that community for all their needs as well.
Although we’re now known as Lakeshore Jewish Funerals, our dedicated staff is still the same. Lead by Director Gregory J. Lindeman, we continue to be committed to excellence and belief in our mission: To provide the support, personalized service and comfort that grieving families need to help them start the process of healing.
Greg Lindeman has been serving the Jewish community along the lakefront since 1995. A licensed funeral director, Greg managed the PISER Chapel at Foster and Broadway. In addition to his duties as manager, Greg assisted and directed funerals for both Piser and Jules Furth. After the close of the Broadway Chapel, Greg joined the staff at WEINSTEIN FUNERAL HOME, overseeing operations at their Devon location. Invited to assist in the formation of LAKESHORE JEWISH FUNERALS, Greg accepted the position of Funeral Director working closely with other members in the community to develop and provide an encompassing, respectful and unique funeral experience.
Over the past few years, Greg served and volunteered for many organizations on the northside. For many years he tutored Chinese and Vietnamese individuals in Uptown in the role of an ESL (English As Second Language) instructor.
Currently he is a member of the Edgewater, Uptown, and Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce and serves as a director for the FDSA (Funeral Director's Service Association of Greater Chicago). In addition, he is also a member of the Illinois Funeral Directors Association and the Funeral Ethics Association. Greg attended CIty Colleges of Chicago for his Mortuary Science degree, received his B.A. degree from Indiana State University, attended the MFA program at the University of Iowa ( Playwrights Workshop) and is currently completing his MLA degree from the University of Chicago. In addition to being licensed in the State of Illinois, Greg is also licensed to practice in California. Raised on the far south side of Chicago, Greg currently resides in Rogers Park where he has been living for the past 15 years. His dedication and compassion, two qualities that have made him admired and respected, will help define LAKESHORE JEWISH FUNERALS as the city's foremost and honored Jewish funeral service provider.
